Dad Bod Custom Down Payment
Dad Bod Custom Down Payment
This is an order for a custom made board. It will take 2-3 weeks to finish, and will be made just for you. Total price for the board is $440. This down payment starts your custom order.
Dad Bod is a twist on the Ego Death shape with a more generous, wider nose and tail. The nose is rounded and the tail is less drastic than Ego Death. Coming in at 5' x 21" x 2.7", this board is meant to be a family board. It's big enough for dad to shred and small enough to fit in the packed car with kids. It can be ridden as a body board, stand up surfboard, kneeboard or drop knee. The volume is likely close to 40 liters according to computer models, but...they are handmade, so every board is unique.
Order your custom today! $200 down gets your board started and pickup is available within 2.5 weeks. The total cost for these boards is $440. The rest is due upon completion. All boards are handmade by Elijah Wyman, start to finish in Ormond Beach, Florida out of EPS and Epoxy. They come with Futures finboxes. Pickup in Ormond or Daytona beach.
HOW DOES PRE ORDER WORK?
You pay a small amount and it sets a board from the upcoming batch aside for you. I will email you and we will chat about your preferences. I will incorporate that into the board. Your board will be finished between 2-3 weeks, sometimes sooner if I'm in mid batch. The rest of the money is due at pickup.
WHAT KIND OF WAVES IS THIS BOARD FOR?
Dad Bod is meant for waves 6 foot and under. As a bodyboard it may perform fine on larger waves, but the wide size and short length put it solidly in the groveler category as a stand up surfboard. The generous width and thickness help you get into waves a touch easier while the short length means that you can choose to wear bodyboarding fins or go barefoot. Setup as a simple twin, this board is meant to be fun and easy.
With Futures finboxes, you can choose to run the board with any fin set of your choose or go wild and have no fins. With this board shape I suggest a slightly larger fin than on Ego Death. The concave in the tail is more subtle so the board will be more slidey. Slightly larger fins can help balance that out. If you prefer to slip and slide, go with tiny fins or none.
IS IT A BODYBOARD?
Sure. Or no. I don't know. It's limited to your imagination. Sometimes when riding boards like this I do a mix of both stand up and prone riding. It's fun to be creative and ride a smaller board than you may be used to.
WHO IS THIS BOARD MADE FOR?
For riders who are a little older or have lost their pop-up, this is an excellent choice to simply get in the water and start peeling down rolling faces.
For groms or young learners, this thing is a boat of a forgiving shortboard/boogie. They can learn on a board that won't become obsolete as they age. It will simply become a fun option still in their quiver.
For intermediate surfers this is a fun shortboard to step down to for small waves. It will be slightly less performant than the Ego Death shape and have more float.
For advanced surfers this will ride similar to a mini Simmons. It's a large planing surface with a single concave in the tail and twin fins. It's a great choice for gutless, smaller days.
